LAB 2: AM Voice Transmitter Using Chopper Modulation
Prelab Assignment
1. Download and install the latest versions of MATLAB and MultiSim from
http://software.udayton.edu
2. Design the summing audio amplifier circuit depicted in Figure 1 using operational
amplifiers (op-amps). Note that the gain required for the microphone/message signal is
approximately a  100 and the input impedance of the microphone input should not be
less than 1k . We require the DC input voltage A to be equal to  6V to ensure that the
output signal am(t)  A does not drop below 0 volts (i.e., am t A ( ) 0   ). Your design
may include more than one op-amp stage.

Implement and simulate/verify the functionality of your design (summing audio amplifier
circuit) using NI Multisim. Use LF353 op-amps. Use a sinusoidal signal generator to
mimic the input/audio signal from the microphone (20-30 mV @ 10 Khz) and a DC
voltage source of your choosing for A.
