ESSAY 1- IDENTITY AND IMMIGRATION

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ESSAY1- IDENTITY AND IMMIGRATION – SUBMIT BY MARCH 29
Related to Chapter 7 (and also Chapter 3) of Rubenstein)
Each of us has a sense of who we are.
But is identity assigned at birth?
Shaped by circumstance?
Or is it something we choose, that changes over time?
I think it is probably all of the above.
TED speakers describe their journeys to answer the question: who am I?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day
conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown into a global platform for identifying and
spreading those world-changing ideas. The annual TED Conference and TED Global Conferences
invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for up to 18 minutes. Their talks are then
made available, free, at TED.com. NPR TED RADIO HOUR TALKS –
