HR Assignment-Employment Laws

Paper details

For question 10: Answer the question with Yes or No (as indicated) and then, in a separate paragraph, provide a rationale for your answer. Answers must contain in-text APA 7th Edition Style citations to indicate where you gathered supporting evidence. Analogously, an imperative skill for all managers is persuasive communication. Consequently, you must use research and facts to craft a compelling narrative while avoiding conjecture. You need to fully answer the question in six to ten sentences, so avoid fluff and redundancies.

10) Vaccines have finally become more widely available and your organization is excited to get back into the office to have more face-to-face meetings and brain storming sessions for new innovative products. You read someplace that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) said vaccines have been mandated at other organizations, so you think this is a great idea to protect your employees and their families. Your “Stress Relief in a Package” company has always been concerned with the welfare of your employees as well as work life balance. As such, you are going to provide COVID shots on-site and at no cost. Additionally, you are going to give them during work hours. As such, employees are paid for any time they spend getting their shot and you do not have to worry about breaking the Fair Labor Standards Act for you non-exempt employees. Do you have the legal right to mandate all of your employees receive their COVID vaccination on-site? Why or why not? What are the parameters, steps, criteria, protocols to follow to ensure organizational practices in this scenario are legally defensible? Did you meet them all? Answer (yes or no) and provide rationale for your answer. 11 Points

Important writing tips and reminders… As part of their answer, students must identify the specific employment law(s) which has/have been broken or would cover this scenario. Students must clearly delineate why a law has/has not been broken and the criteria used to determine if a law has been broken. Inherently, does the scenario below meet all specified criteria for determining a law has been broken and organizational misconduct has occurred? You must follow the “writing guidelines” posted on Canvas. (i.e. Write in third person in this part of your assignment and correctly format citations…..) There are several reasons students might earn a zero on their entire assignment:

1) Students will earn a zero on their assignment if they fail provide a reference page on the page immediately following their answer to Question 10. (References pages should start on a new page, so the word “References” is at the center top of the page but still on the same document.)

2) Students who fail to provide rationale with supporting APA style citations (7th Edition) for Question 10, will earn zero points for their entire assignment even if they answer questions 1 through 9 correctly.

3) Students who fail to include a page number or para number with their in-text citation for any exact quote will receive a zero for the entire assignment.

4) Students who fail to post their assignment correctly to Canvas by 11:59pm on the due date or email it to the professor will receive a zero. No late assignments without documentation of FMLA.

5) If a student’s paper contains plagiarized material, they will receive a zero and will be reported to the student conduct board. Did I mention…. Papers that have an exact quote without an in-text citation and page or para number will automatically receive a zero. Papers with no reference page receive a zero. Late assignment (without FMLA documentation) receive a zero. Papers with plagiarized material will receive a zero.

HR ASSIGNMENT #1 5 There are several reasons students receive deductions on their assignment grade: 1) Your similarity match for Question 10 must be below 30% on the Turnitin.com plagiarism software, which means you may not just cut and paste sentences to construct your answer. One quote or two partial direct quotes (correctly cited) are acceptable, but mainly use in-text citations to reference facts you learned in an article but wrote in your own words. 2) Do not include the question that was asked on your completed assignment or your Turnitin.com % will be very high and points will be deducted. 3) Please proofread your rational for question 10 and ensure you have written in complete sentences. Point will be deducted for incomplete sentences, grammatical mistakes, and punctuation errors. Grammatical mistakes, incorrect capitalization, and punctuation errors detract from a paper’s readability as well as make an argument less compelling. Remember, you receive two bonus points each time you “bring” or send your paper to the writing center for feedback. Writing center tutors are available online. (See Canvas for details.) 4) You may use the UNCP library database to find peer-reviewed journal articles but may not use any popular press articles. (See Canvas for additional information.) 5) No websites may be used except DOL, SHRM, OSHA, FLSA, or EEOC. As such, look on DOL, SHRM, OSHA, or EEOC websites only. 5) You must use your textbook as one source to answer questions. 6) All answers should include at least four in-text citations consistent with APA formatting style guidelines. Points are deducted for each APA formatting error so please review guidelines carefully. In addition to your book, you should have at least three additional peer-reviewed articles and/or approved web-based resources (use combination of different sources not the same one over and over). In-text citations in your answer should match what is on your reference page.
