An Afrocentric perspective of this topic argues a position that Africa during the period discussed was the history not of diverse people with diverse culture, but a single cultural unit based around the Nile Valley civilization. The argument advocates that to focus on the difference of the Kingdoms is a mistake and that the focus should be on the similarities which define the continent.
