Physiological Difference between a Reflex and a Conscious Movement: let me explain. A reflex is a movement that is triggered by an involuntary response to stimuli. An example of such a movement is the withdrawal of a hand upon touching a hot rod. On the other hand, conscious movements, otherwise known as voluntary movements, are all movements initiated by impulses originating in the brain (David & Robert, 2015). The difference between the reflex and conscious movement is that unlike the latter, reflexes are not controlled consciously. The other difference is that a reflex is generally faster than a conscious movement. This is because the signal for a reflex travels a shorter distance to the spinal cord while the signal for a conscious movement originates in the brain through the spinal cord and then gets to the organ.

Why Skeletal Muscle Cells are Multi-nucleated Multi-nucleated cells are those that have a membrane around them that are characterized by having more than one cell nucleus in a common cytoplasm. Of the three types of muscle cells which are categorized as cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle cells, only the skeletal muscle cells are multi-nucleated. This is because, the formation of skeletal muscle cells starts in the embryo as being uni-nucleated, but then fuse to form into a multi-nucleated muscle fibre (Alberts, Lewis, & Johnson, 2002).
